Article Processing Charge

Journal of Sustainable Agribusiness and Innovation Systems (JOSAIS)

1. APC Structure

To ensure high editorial quality, rigorous peer review, professional production standards, and long-term digital preservation, JOSAIS applies the following Article Processing Charge (APC):

APC (International Authors): USD 650 per accepted article
APC (Indonesian Authors): IDR 7,500,000 per accepted article

APC is only charged after the manuscript has successfully passed double-blind peer review and has been formally accepted for publication.

No submission fee is applied.

2. What the APC Covers

The APC supports:

  • Double-blind peer review management

  • Professional language editing (native-level academic English polishing)

  • Plagiarism screening (Turnitin/iThenticate-based verification)

  • DOI registration via Crossref

  • XML production for indexing databases

  • Layout and typesetting according to international journal standards

  • Online hosting and long-term digital archiving

  • Indexing maintenance and metadata optimization

  • Editorial and technical management

3. Waiver and Discount Policy

To ensure equity and global inclusion:

  • Full waiver for authors from low-income countries (World Bank classification).

  • 50% discount for invited high-impact international collaborations.

  • Special institutional agreements may be arranged for partner universities.

All waiver decisions are independent of editorial decisions.

4. Payment Timing

APC is payable only after:

  • Final acceptance letter issued

  • Author approval of final proof

  • Copyright agreement signed

Failure to pay APC does not affect editorial integrity but will delay publication scheduling.

5. Refund Policy

  • No refund after acceptance and production process has started.

  • Full refund if publication is cancelled by the journal.

Strategic Notes for Q1 Positioning

A Scopus Q1–level APC must be supported by:

  1. Strict acceptance rate (≤ 25%)

  2. International editorial board (≥ 40% non-Indonesian members)

  3. Reviewer turnaround time ≤ 4 weeks

  4. Structured abstract format

  5. Strong methodological standards

  6. Consistent publication frequency (minimum 3–4 issues per year)

  7. Citation strategy and international author base

APC alone does not make a journal Q1. Governance, citation metrics, internationalization, and review rigor are decisive.
