Abstract

The rapid development of technology in the digital age has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including parenting styles. Children’s easy access to information and use of digital devices present new challenges for parents in educating and shaping their children’s character. The issues addressed in this study are how parenting styles adapt to these changes and how effective parenting strategies are in the digital age. This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination of relevant parenting styles and the urgency of synchronizing parenting approaches to support children’s development in the digital age. The method employed in this study is a qualitative approach using a literature review. Data were obtained from various sources of scientific literature, such as books, journals, and relevant academic documents, and were then analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify patterns, relationships, and deeper meanings related to the phenomenon under study. The results of the study indicate that parenting in the digital age can no longer be rigidly applied within a single parenting style but must integrate or synchronize authoritarian, permissive, and democratic parenting approaches. An adaptive and contextual parenting approach is key to addressing the impact of technology on children’s development. Thus, it can be concluded that the success of parenting in the digital age is largely determined by parents’ ability to adapt their parenting to the times and to their children’s needs in a holistic manner.
